Health thingies.

One Day at a Time (no, not the one with Valerie Bertinelli), Day Three:
I feel so great, truly. I'm drinking water, avoiding sugar, and that's about it. Oh, and the Tea of Awesome.
My joints actually bend decently, I can walk a distance without a)getting winded, b) having excruciating calf pain. My blood sugar is coming down, and I'm AWAKE during the day, which is a big plus.
I have also lost three pounds of water weight. My pants aren't tight anymore. :D!
I am doing this for ME. I don't care if that three pounds is water-weight. I'll take it! I am losing weight for my health only, so I can be around for my husband and son. I'm going to take care of ME. I can't wait for anyone to do it for me.
I will concentrate on one day at a time, one meal at a time, one decision at a time. I will have my water each day and I will not eat anything that comes out of a drive through window.
Eventually, I will incorporate more fruit and vegetables into my diet. But that will come in time.
This time, I must succeed. And I will.
(wow, maybe I should have the music from a battle scene in LotR inserted here) :)

There is no room for failure; I'm diabetic and I do not want to have any bad complications. So I'm starting to slow myself and my eating down so I can make my decisions.
The water *really* helps.

The thing is this: we all have to do it for ourselves and by proxy, for our loved ones. So good for you for doing and taking care of yourself, and everything that works is the right thing to be doing. Of course, I'm the #1 water proponent, and even I could be drinking it more. A tip I was taught is to remind yourself at the top of every hour to drink some water. Not 8 full oz, just "some." And then it becomes habit, and we find we've had our daily water allotment without even thinking about it, and gradually which is the best way to do it.
You know the ratio for finding out how much water you need every day, right? Take your weight, divide it in half, pretend it's ounces instead of pounds, and drink that much water. So if you weigh 100 lbs, you want to drink at least 50 oz of water a day. Make sense?

I'm very determined this time--but one thing at a time, so I don't give up so easily.

I only have two glasses at home. I can't believe how awake I feel.

So I rarely do.

Remember, eating kitten crepes is also not good for you (ie your icon)
