The thing is this: we all have to do it for ourselves and by proxy, for our loved ones. So good for you for doing and taking care of yourself, and everything that works is the right thing to be doing. Of course, I'm the #1 water proponent, and even I could be drinking it more. A tip I was taught is to remind yourself at the top of every hour to drink some water. Not 8 full oz, just "some." And then it becomes habit, and we find we've had our daily water allotment without even thinking about it, and gradually which is the best way to do it.
You know the ratio for finding out how much water you need every day, right? Take your weight, divide it in half, pretend it's ounces instead of pounds, and drink that much water. So if you weigh 100 lbs, you want to drink at least 50 oz of water a day. Make sense?
