[livejournal.com profile] annechen67 linked to this brilliant essay, which I wholeheartedly agree with.

For the reasons stated herein, my main goal is to learn to design and make my own clothing. I already need to do serious alteration (not that it ever actually happens; I usually end up wearing it ill-fitting) to just about everything I buy. I'm short, small-boned, and overweight. My body type has never been in style.

What do you think? I'm really quite interested in clothes, how people think about them, and what sorts of issues women have with them. Feel free to discuss. Pass the link on if you agree.

That definitely hit about every problem I have with clothing. It amazes me that in college, I thought a size 13 was "fat" and that size jean is equal to about an 8 now! I can wear from a 14 to an 18 depending on brand, but I couldnt get one leg into one of those old size 13s from the late 70's/early 80's.

And as a big chested woman, I want nice shirts! They dont have to fall down like a maternity top after coming over my breats either, Im tired of trying things on that look that way! I havent owned a button up shirt in years because of it.
