Why I'm here...

I'm here to have a place where I can focus exclusively on my writing. You'd think this wouldn't be a difficult thing, but it turns out that it's more difficult than I ever imagined.

I've been writing since I was nine years old. I never showed anyone because I was never confident in my abilities. I was embarrassed and I thought I was abnormal.

It was only in the past five or six years that I'd actually considered that I could write for other people, that perhaps I could write something that others would want to read. My husband had read some fanfiction that I'd written and then he'd asked "Why aren't you writing a novel or something?"

It blew me away.

But I struggle. I think it's the idea that I still don't believe I can do it. Maybe it's all those years of self-doubt keeping me back.

I'm just hoping I can get something written and finish it. Be able to go back and edit, do good work on it.

I'd like to figure out how to get out of a rut, how to figure out what to do when I don't know what to do.

I just want to finish something.

I feel the same way, I want to write more, but I have so much self-doubt, I'll start something and not get very far on it.

I'm hopeful I can use the dreamwidth journal to write more about writing and motivate myself to finish what I start.
