Association Meme: Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

I got these from [livejournal.com profile] in_the_blue:

1) Motherhood: The toughest job I have. I never thought I would say that the first six months were the easiest, but they were, even with sleep deprivation and not really knowing what the heck I was doing. It's tough, and rewarding in its way. It certainly helps to have a little boy who is just such a sweetheart. Liam has his problems, but one thing about being a mother that should happen is that I feel I wouldn't change a hair on his head. He has habits I wish he'd put away, of course, but the real things that come out when he's truly relaxed? The best stuff ever.

2) Harp: Full Disclosure: I haven't played in ever so long. That's something I need to change, since playing the harp, no matter how "badly" heals something in me that nothing else does. It just brings on the happy, for me. In a workshop a couple of years ago, I learned that there are modes you play in for therapy harping that helps a patient to relax, reduce blood pressure, for pain relief and a bunch of other things. Very fascinating and that's something I hope to use someday. I really should be taking lessons.

3) switching political allegiance: I think I switched political allegiances *twice*--I often joke that I was 'born liberal'. Unfortunately, in my early teen years, people swayed my opinion. I was a Republican/conservative for over fifteen years, mostly due to the breed of religion that I'd adopted and the highly conservative college I went to. That all ended with GWB plunging us headlong into Iraq. I remember watching the leadup to war, thinking that there was something rotten in the State of US. It didn't sit right with me. Thus began my disillusionment with the Republican agenda. I made the break in 2002, my husband following me fairly soon after. I'm...happier, in many ways because of this.

4) Maine: :D I could talk about Maine for a hundred years! Or at least the little part of it I've actually been to. I need to see more of the state. My parents are from Mt.Desert Island, in Maine. My father lived in Bar Harbor, and his father owned a grocery store/butcher shop. My mother was from a short distance away but they both went to Bar Harbor High School (which no longer exists). My mother's father built the house they lived in. The island is packed with my family's history.

Besides that, there's so much natural beauty. I've roamed the beaches there since I couldn't walk yet. I grew up looking at those mountains, those trees (now they're taller and blocking a lot of the views!), that ocean. I remember being at the summit of Cadillac Mountain before a lot of the footpaths had been built. It's a place with my best and most fond memories; and a place my husband loves almost as much as I do. It's like home for me, each time I go there.

And it's the place I feel closest to my mother.

5) 24: It's all [livejournal.com profile] buongiornodaisy's fault! I came in at the tail end of season 3. Actually, it was most likely 3-19. I didn't see much of that season but I remember liking what I saw.

What I do like about it is that they follow the same character, developing him through all these horrible things that keep happening to him. The show has its faults but for all that, they're doing pretty well this season, so I'll keep watching and hoping they don't screw it up. :)

I keep wondering how much longer Jack can last. They've taken his whole family from him now. What does a man have when everything he's ever valued is gone? And yet...he keeps fighting for the country that keeps screwing him over. I keep wondering how much more they'll put him through, and how he'll react next. That's probably the best thing; and mostly thanks to Kiefer Sutherland, who is an AWESOME actor.

And...I don't know how coherent that is, but there you go! :)
