Oooookay...

My son and I are watching Noggin, and "Tiny Planets" is on, featuring two little white fuzzy aliens, Bing and Bong. Apparently, this episode is all about water and rain. The title?

"It's Raining Bongs."

Duuuuuuuuude! Whoah!

I love the theme song to that show

"Tiny Planets" is beyond weird. It reminds me of the cartoons I used to see on the local French channel, which made just about as much sense as this one does (and I didn't even understand French at the time).

I suspect the entire creative staff of that show are on magic mushrooms. And yes, the theme song is a thing of evil catchiness which must be stopped.

I hear it in my sleep, especially that lovely, echo-y part at the end.

Better'n the "Song that Doesn't End", though. Now, you *could* sing that forever! And you wouldn't want to!

Oh! And while we're on the subject of children's shows, did you ever see this bit of weirdness? I used to see it after school let out when I was six or seven on Channel 9 out of Secaucus, NJ...http://www.frightenstein.com/

Sorry if it brings back bad memories...when I mentioned this show to someone else, they scolded me... ;-)

Oh, I hated that show. It didn't scare me, I just thought it was enormously stupid. Same with H.R. Pufnstuf... I never really watched more than five or ten minutes of either, while waiting impatiently for the next thing to come on.

Still, I'm amused by the reference, as I'd totally forgotten about that show until you mentioned it again.

Oh, I knew it was stupid even when I was six. The scolding I got was something like "Aigh! Don't go bringing up memories of Billy Van! You should be ashamed of yourself!"

Sadly, Sid and Marty Krofft were often the only things on...for hours and hours on a Saturday. Hours and Hours. *sigh*

Um.

I love that show.

Which, Tiny Planets or The Hilarious House? T-P is pretty cute, but very weird. Hilarious house...it's just one of those things that entertained me when I was six, but eventually thought it was some sort of fever dream I had, because no one else remembered it!

Nice to see you, Rob!

TP, of course. I enjoy weirdness. I was channel surfing and it made me stop, which is high praise coming from me, believe me.

Nice seeing you, too! *waving*

<I enjoy weirdness.>

Well, we *are* children of the 70's, aren't we? I mean, have you stopped to *think* about the weirdness that was children's programming in the 70's? (Gee, I'm assuming you're close to my age. Hope that doesn't offend you. ;-))

Just the "Electric Company" alone is enough to give one trippy dreams. And I did, when I was a kid.

I got one for ya... Gigglesnort Hotel.

Oh, my goodness! I remember that! Or at least the name, and a vague visual...waitaminnit...

(insert bad flashback here--and a Google search)

Oh, that *was* a while back, wasn't it? Dear me....I don't think this was on my list of faves, but I do remember it...egad!

The best *obscure* kid's TV show that I remember is "The Magic Garden". Hubby is the only one I know of who remembers this show because we both watched Channel 11 from NYC...starring two pretty hippie girls who played guitar and sang...a pink squirrel lived in the tree, and they would take bad jokes off the leaves of the Gigglepatch flowers. They released an album of songs, and you could color in the cover.

I counter with this:

la lala la la la lala la la lala la la VILLA ALEGRE!

I can honestly say I do not remember that...but I do remember Carascolendas!

LOL! That was the other bilingual one I was going to hit you up with. :)
